Mesoscopic physics subdiscipline of condensed-matter physics that focuses on the properties of solids in a size range intermediate between bulk matter and individual atoms or molecules. Mesoscopic physics A subdiscipline of condensed-matter physics that focuses on the properties of solids in a size range intermediate between bulk matter and individual atoms or molecules. Mesoscopic physics is a subdiscipline of condensed matter physics that deals with materials of an intermediate length. These materials range in size between the nanoscale for a quantity of atoms (such as a molecule) and of materials measuring micrometres.

We are a theory group interested in the physics that is involved in the spatial organization of the cell cytoplasm and the formation of proto-cells at the origin of life. In both cases we focus on the role of compartmentalization as a mechanism that can provide a stable and protective The following is a course of lectures on the manifestations of quantum phase coherence phenomena and interaction in mesoscopic structures. In discussing applications to a variety of modern topics in condensed matter physics emphasis is given to methods of statistical field theory. Professor Yoseph (Joe) Imry, an early initiator of mesoscopic physics, has been among the leaders in this field for several decades. This book contains articles by leading (theoretical and experimental) scientists working in nanoscience and in related fields. Mesoscopic physics addresses fundamental physical problems which occur when a macroscopic object is miniaturized. The field originated some ten years ago, motivated largely by the electronics industry.

As of March 2021, we are confirming the opening of applications for the GDR 2426 ("Mesoscopic Quantum Physics Research Group") School of Mesoscopic Physics, which will take place from Monday October 4th, 2021 to Friday October 15th, 2021 at the Institute of Scientific Studies of Cargèse (IESC, Corsica, France).

'Mesoscopic physics' refers to the physics of structures larger than a nanometer (one billionth of a meter) but smaller than a micrometer (one millionth of a meter). This size range is the stage on which the research on submicroscopic and electronic and mechanical devices is being done. The present book is an introduction to this exciting new area in physics. For this second edition, the Thus mesoscopic physics has a close connection to the fields of nanofabrication and nanotechnology. Three categories of new phenomena in such systems are interference effects, quantum size effects, and charging effects. See Artificially layered structures, Quantized electronic structure (QUEST), Semiconductor heterostructures Mesoscopic physics In the realm of atoms and molecules, macroscopic dimensions refer to huge numbers of particles, which when taken all together can be perceived as ordinary matter in the form of solids, flluids or gases. I am leading the mesoscopic physics group, working on theoretical problems in mesoscopic and nanoscale physics.
